A Los Angeles native Chef Ray Agishi has been working as a sushi chef throughout California and San Diego for the past 20 years. He began his career during high school working at YAMA SUSHI BAR in North Lake Tahoe. After moving to San Diego, he has worked at many Japanese restaurants in the throughout California including BENNIHANA in Mission Valley with Chef Junichi Fukushima. Chef Ray has been an innovative sushi chef for Certified Master Chef Nobu Matsuhisa at NOBU San Diego in the Gaslamp District. Since the opening day at NOBU, he has been responsible for consistently preparing quality food in a fast paced environment. Currently, Chef Ray is the executive chef and owner of IZAKAYA PACIFIC BEACH located on Garnet Avenue steps away from Crystal Pier. Since 2014, Chef Ray’s modern take on Japanese Cuisine has been voted Top 5 Best Japanese Restaurants in San Diego two years in a row and Best Sushi from San Diego City Beat Magazine in 2016. This year Chef Ray launched Sensi Chef, a company dedicated to creating high quality products to enhance your cannabis/ CBD infused dining experience and lifestyle.
